Planning your photographs should feel easy. Here are a few thoughtful details to help you begin with confidence.
A Naples family photographer’s toddler-friendly approach
A successful family session with toddlers is not about asking everyone to look at the camera for an hour. It is about making room for their real personalities: the running, the serious little observations, the snack breaks, the wild giggles, and the need to be held. Those moments are often the ones families love most later.
Before the session, keep the day as simple as possible. A familiar meal, a flexible nap plan, and a small favorite comfort item can make a huge difference. Bring water, napkins, a non-messy snack, and one or two favorite toys for little ones—then leave the pressure at home.
Use movement as the plan
Instead of making children perform, I build prompts around play: walking toward the water, squeezing in close, spinning, looking for shells, or seeing who can make the biggest sandcastle. These little activities create connection and give hands something to do, which is much more natural than holding a smile.
Parents do not need to manage every second. Your job is to stay close, be playful, and trust the process. I will watch for the light and the tiny moments happening between the big ones.
Choose a family-friendly location
For little ones, amenities and walk distance matter. Lowdermilk has the practical convenience of restrooms, showers, parking, and a playground. Clam Pass has a memorable boardwalk experience and a tram. The best location is the one that feels manageable for your family, because a relaxed arrival sets the tone for everything that follows.
For a more tucked-away coastal look, I also love Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park. The area near Parking Lot 4 can feel less busy than some central beach access points, especially for a well-timed weekday session. Conditions, parking, and park access can change, so I always confirm the current situation before making it our final plan.
